Susan Alderson – A Vibrant Spirit Gone too Soon

Dear Northeast Journal supporters:
It is with great sadness that we share with you the news that our beloved and dedicated managing editor, Susan Alderson, passed away suddenly yesterday morning. We are all in disbelief that someone with such an indomitable and vibrant spirit could be taken from us so soon.
The Holiday issue of the Northeast Journal is being delivered as we speak. Please give thanks for having had the honor and pleasure of being part of the life’s work of someone whose heart and soul is what kept the Journal as loving and communty-based as it has been for 12 years!
We will keep you posted over the next few days about how we plan to honor and celebrate her life, and hope you will be able to join us in whatever way you can.
In the meantime, her family will be posting on her Facebook page for more details about the formal service.
On behalf of the entire Northeast Journal family, we thank you for your ongoing loyalty to the Journal. I know Susan was very proud to bring you the best possible stories about the good people, good places and good things happening in her beloved hometown, and was overjoyed by all of the positive feedback she received. Please continue to connect with us about stories you would like to share as we move forward with her spirit guiding us.

Susie’s vibrancy, tenacity, and uniqueness — along with her stunning photography skills — will be sorely missed by the Old Northeast she loved so much.

Our community has lost treasure…a piece of its beauty. Susan’s smile, kindness, wit and energy is already missed. We are all going to have to be a bit brighter to make up for the loss of this lovely light.
So well put, especially about being brighter ourselves. We can all make a difference, as Susan did. Thank you for your kind words.
Susie loved her city and loved working for the Northeast Journal I think because the Journal has been such a celebration of the city. She played a huge part in helping to find those stories about the good things happening and making the Journal such a success. She was such a pleasure to work with. I will miss her greatly.
Exactly, Will. The Journal appreciates your kind words, and your dedication to the Journal as well. Your history articles and stories of the workings of St Pete are part of what makes the Journal so great. Thank you.
