RadioStPete.com Sunshine 96.7 FM has big plans to see you this fall! Check out the RSP crew at these events: October 25 is Halloween on Central, November 13 is Runfest, November 14-15 is the new Booker Creek Festival, and December 9 is the Holiday Happy Hour fundraiser (Tom Petty live tribute at BayBoro Brewing).

John McEuen Joins The Florida Folk Show This just in from Music Director J Kolb: Nitty Gritty Dirt Band founder and international American folklore star John McEuen has recently upped and moved from Nashville to the St. Petersburg area, joining Pete Gallagher and Tim Valle as a co-host for the Saturday morning LIVE Radio St Pete Florida Folk Show. McEuen has visited here on tours several times over the years and recently decided to actually live here full time – his wife Marilyn hails from the Tampa Bay area!

John’s diligence in finding, bringing back to the stage and promoting such American music legends as Mother Maybelle Carter, Earl Scruggs, Chubby Wise, Merle Travis, Jimmy Martin, Vassar Clements, Doc Watson, even a suspicious Roy Acuff! – a precious list that goes on and on – bringing new fame to the old guard beginning with the Dirt Band hit 1972 Album “Will The Circle Be Unbroken,” also the title for a much acclaimed multi-show documentary by filmmaker Ken Burns. The NGDB broke the international barrier as the first American rock band to appear in Russia. “I first met John through the NGDB albums that myself and banjo-playing friend Jack Piccalo listened to in high school. While working with Chief Jim Billie and the Seminole Tribe, says Pete: “ I hired John to star at one of the first Fire On The Swamp Music Festivals the Tribe once presented each year out in the Big Cypress. We’ve been friends ever since!”

Music Scene revs up this fall with local musician interviews as well as national interviews with artists performing at Clearwater Jazz Holiday Oct. 15-18 and Suncoast Jazz Festival DATES.
